Video Tuner #184

Sharpness can go a little higher/be stronger (double the current amount). Test
it on 720p & 1080p movie.

Hue is not really necessary, although it looks nice in the palette :-)

Brightness, Contrast, Saturation & Gamma should have more usable values eg. if
you crank up the Brightness then you get pure white which is rarely needed so
the slider values should be lower eg. from -1 to +1 instead of -10 to +10.
This would give a finer control of the picture and a better user experience.
Movies that require that high values are mostly unusable/watchable. Should be
tested to determine correct values (emali me if you need help).

Gamma is more viable solution for brightness and perhaps should be renamed to
brightness and the real brightness dropped altogether.

HUD palette should autohide in fullscreen, and it should be more compact.

Noise Reduction can be renamed to NR, dNR or DNR (digital noise reduction), to
save space in the palette.

Sharpness should be 1st and then Noise Reduction.

Brightness & Contrast icons should be square to match the other icons, or all
icons could be removed to save space (although the do look nice :-) )

Video tuner presets would be a nice addition.

Persistent VT settings. Settings should not be forgotten on movie change/close
unless specified otherwise in preferences. (mentioned elsewhere)

Picture processing order should be deblocking/postprocessing, lancosz3 resize,
brightness/contrast/gamma/sat/hue, NR and then sharpening. (open for debate)

The player needs a little more work, but this is by far the best player ever to
come out for mac. Keep up the good work. :-)

[clarification] Should be tested to determine correct values (emali me if you
need help).

Should be tested to determine correct range values (emali me if you need help
testing videos and determining usable ranges).

Sliders should snap to 0 (default value) when dragged.
Default value should be centered.
More compact VT window.

Example attached.

Gamma is totally different from brightness, although it looks like.

> HUD palette should autohide in fullscreen.

above two are left to be implemented in 1.0.2

Users wont wait for palette to auto hide, so autohide actually is not that
useful.

> Settings should not be forgotten on movie change/close unless specified
otherwise in preferences
implemented as hidden prefs in 1.0.1, will expose in 1.0.2
