Could you add support for this site:http://www.sous-titres.eu ?
 It contains a lot of French subtitles for TVShow.

If I'm not mistaken, sous-titres.eu does not have an API and does not list the 
content of the zip on a webpage.

This means that periscope would have to download the zip (usually a few 
hundreds kb) just to check if a matching subtitle is inside of it.

This is not very efficient. But it will indirectly be supported through the 
future BetaSeries plugin (that has an API and gets subtitles from 
Sous-titres.eu). I hope that it would be a good enough solution for you.
