Similar for me, though Atom doesn't crash, it freezes. After a long time i get a dialog asking me if i want to keep waiting or force the program to close. Because of the freezing I wasn't able to uninstall Pigments, and removing the Pigments directory in Packages didn't help, Atom would still freeze. I had to restore previous versions of ~/.atom and ~/.config/Atom. Atom 1.45 and 1.48 Pigments: 0.40.2 Linux mint 18.3 mate

I was installing some packages and when I got pigments installed Atom crashed. I couldn't solve this without uninstalling this package because I could not do anything, even if I close and open Atom back up again. I had to use apm uninstall pigments command in order to be able to open atom without it crash.
Atom version: 1.45.0 Pigments version: v0.40.2 OS: Ubuntu 19.10
