'Search' Function Busted On Recent TunesRemote+ Update #38

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
It seems the 'Search' function no longer works in the recent update (3/24/2011)
update. Any search will return the result "No search results found".

I was able to do a search using MonkeyTunes 1.5.1. I did a Search for
"Counting" and all the Counting Crows songs showed up in the Search results.

Are you using iTunes? what version of iTunes?

Yes, iTunes 10.2.1. Everything else is working fine. Pairs fine. All my
'Artists' are visible. The new 'Speaker' function works fine. But a 'Search'
on any term turns up null results; "No search results found". Thanks.

Hmm so can you do an Artist search? So in the Search box type "Beatles" or
just one word from some artist you know you have. Still nothing?

because the latest patch really didn't touch the Search code at all which is
why I am stumped.

I can click on 'Artists' and see a list that includes all my artists. If I
choose 'Search' and search on ANYTHING that I have, the result is always "No
search results found". It was working fine last night. Only thing that has
changed today is the update. I closed and reopened iTunes with the same
results. Everything works except the 'Search' function. Thanks.

OK hopefully one of the other developers here will try it on iTunes 10.2.1

OK, thanks. I have rebooted both my phone and computer with the same results.
Remembers the pairing fine. Everything works fine - player controls, settings,
speakers, library is recognized, artists are all listed there - EXCEPT the
'Search' function. Weird, yeah, I know. Should I uninstall and reinstall it?
Thanks.

No I don't think uninstalling and reinstalling is necessary. Did it coincide
with an iTunes update? I am just thinking possible the iTunes server actually
changed as well they have been making lots of changes recently.

No. I literally went to bed last night with it working fine. Checked for
updates today and saw the update. Updated it and saw the new 'Speaker'
function and thought "Cool". Tested it and it worked. Tried to 'Search' for
something in my library and got the null result. Repeated that result with all
sorts of stuff that normally would return results. I'm stumped too because
everything else is working. A 'Search' on the computer within iTunes works
fine.

OK, I have noticed a further discrepancy. If I look at my 'Artist' list and
choose a particular artist, all the albums for that particular artist appear
just fine. If, however, I choose to 'Browse Tracks' I get a report that "No
tracks found for this album". If I choose to 'Play album', though, that
particular album will play just fine.

'Search' using the plain TunesRemote (not '+') works fine.

I have made a video documenting the issue as best I can. In the video I first
'Search' on "Beatles" and am told that "No search results found". Then I go to
'Artists' and go to 'Beatles'. As you can see they are obviously there. Then
I go to their albums, click on 'Revolver', and try to 'Browse Tracks' and am
told that "No tracks found for this album'. Then I click on 'Revolver' and
'Play album' and it plays with no issue.

File is zipped .mov file. ~42MB download.

Thanks again.

OK so I tested tonight and all is working in Monkeytunes. However MonkeyTunes
does not support multiple speakers so things were working as they should.

I tested against iTunes with and without Multiple speakers. So without
everything is working like the old version, it is only if there is mutliple
speakers it seems all Search results and tracks do not return results. I will
report it to the patch issuer here:

Wow, thanks a lot. Good to know I'm not (completely) nuts. Weird issue,
though. I guess nothing surprises me anymore.

Thanks, again!
