A bit of an update. After several attempts cycling home sharing, clearing out
remotes, changing allowed options, and re-installing TunesRemote+, I did get
the it to send a pairing request with code 5309 to iTunes. It showed up under
devices as SPH-700. When I entered the code, it was ignored and the pairing
window never went away on the phone.

Most likely this is your firewall blocking the return requests on TCP port 3689
or TCP port 1024.
Roku is NOT repeat NOT implementing the same protocol as TunesRemote+.

Also to note I have sucessfully paired with about 20 different Android devices.
It is not your Epic 4g it is your firewall rules....

My Macbook Pro is able to pair with the iTunes server. Does this mean the
firewall issue is on my Epic 4G? Does your software require that I jail-break
my Epic 4G?

Looks like your Epic neither accepts http requests on port 1024 (pairing) nor
udp multicasts on port 5353.

YEs once again, what your Macbook pro is doing and what your Roku are doing is
RAOP which is Remote Audio Access Protocol. TunesRemote+ is is DACP protcol
which is differet. It requires ports 5353, 1024, and 3689 all to be allowable
through the firewall. My guess is your 1024 is blocked.

jscott, any update on this?

I specifically opened 1024 on the router, as per the instructions. Also, I'm
not sharing a library with the MacBook, but pairing with it. It generates a
code, I enter it on the server, it shows up as a device. But I like the idea
of the Epic not allowing traffic over 1024... I plan to test pairing it with
the MacBook tonight.

OK just keep me in the loop on how it goes...

I am going to close this issue as I believe it to be not TunesRemote+ related
but firewall related.

Uhhhh. It was the firewall on the iTunes server machine. I installed some
tools on Android to chase down open ports and it became pretty clear. So I
rebooted the iTunes server machine and TunesRemote+ connected right up
afterwards. Something about firewall control on Snow Leopard with third party
tools - the reboot cleared it. Thanks for the help. Great app you have here!

That is why I labeled the first section of the Wiki "Firewall, Firewall,
Firewall...".

Because every time a user says its not their firewall...it is their firewall!
