Can not pair iTunes with my Desire HD #51

Q. What Android hardware device do you own? (HTC Hero, Samsung Galaxy,
etc)

A: HTC Desire HD

Q. On what Android operating system version? (2.1, 2.2, Honeycomb 3.0.1
etc)

A: Gingerbread (2.3.3)

Q. What DACP server, OS, and version? (OSX iTunes 10.1.2, Windows 7
MonkeyTunes 1.5.1 etc)

A: Windows 7 iTunes 10.2.2.12

Q. What TunesRemote+ version? (found on Menu->More->About)

A: Sorry there is no "more" in the menu. It's the latest version.

Please provide any additional information below.

My phone just does not find any library automatically. When I add the ip
manually it will give me this code I need to enter in iTunes (somewhere??). I
tried to enter it while the mainscreen was active but nothing happens. Home
sharing is enabled.

It is most likely your firewall or that you need to "forget all remotes". Read
through the whole Connection Issues:

Yes I already read through them. The ports are correctly forwarded (Im an IT
manager so I know it's correctly done). I even have the "Windows Firewall"
service on disabled to make sure the ports are absolutely free and open. I also
tried a few times to press the "forget all devices/pairs" button.

No luck!

So when TunesRemote+ is showing the pairing code 5309 do you see your device in
the iTunes treeview on the PC? Can you click on it and enter the code?

If not your Bonjour is definitely blocking UDP packets. Possibly reboot your
Windows PC to restart your Bonjour service?

So if you don't have that work the Manual Pairing step won't do you any good
that is not for iTunes but for other DACP Servers.

No my device is not showing up in iTunes at all. The pairing code is only
showing up when I choose to "manually add" in the tunesremote+ app which I
shouldn't do according to your last sentence.

I just restarted the bonjour service but again: no luck. Is there anything I
can do to debug the program?

I just used wireshark to see if the device was actually communicating with my
computer.
It looks like it is. Have a look yourself:

OK so what is happening there is you are trying "Manual Pairing" with itunes.
As I have said before that will not work. You REAL problem is on Tunes Remote+
when you are in the Find Libraries screen which uses Bonjour to see all
available iTunes instances your Android device can't see it.

What that means is your Android device is being blocked from multicast UDP
packets on port 5353.

You can read all about it here:

Hmm not sure what I have to do now. The thread gives a couple of possible
solutions but none seem to work for me. I even tried to open ports on both TCP
and UDP to ensure myself that the ports are completely open for all traffic.

From reading the posts in the thread I can understand that there's a problem
with the wifi driver htc desire hd uses.

What do I have to do now? Wait till someone fixes it? I really like the
tunesremote+ app and would like to use it. If you need anything from me, let me
know.

Yeah it seems certain Desire's have a bug in their WIFI driver preventing UDP
multicast traffic. Yours must be one of the affected phones. I thought
someone had mentioned it is fixed in a later firmware release but I am not
quite sure.

Unfortunately until that is fixed there is no way to use TunesREmote+ as
Bonjour is key to the handshaking of DACP.

Changing this to WontFix as the Desire has a known UDP issue.
