what is the purpose of core.update_resources ? #445

As it is not used at all except by gc3utls.commands.py in gservers

it is the only place where lrms.get_resource_status is invoked beside 
__submit_application

is it relevant only for the 'cloud' backends ?
both ec2 and openstack are also calling: self.get_resource_status()
in most of the public methods

should consider remove from core and make sure the 'cloud' backends call 
self.get_resource_status() too all public methods they support ?
