Visual C++ Runtime Library error (then program terminates) #378

What steps will reproduce the problem?
 1. Center on pre-loaded tiles in offline mode
 2. Pan or zoom

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect that as normal, pan or zoom works. Occasionally, the program terminates
and issues the following error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (error message title)
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.8.0.1; Win7/64

Please provide any additional information below.
I installed the latest Visual C++ Runtime Library (which I think is 2012) after
receiving this error several times(with different phrasing but always about
requesting to terminate in an unusual way). It seems to occur less frequently
after updating the C++ Runtime Lib, but it still does happen. I can restart
GMapCatcher and resume viewing, but there's always a chance the error will
recur. It only seems to occur while panning or zooming. It does not occur when
the map is sitting idle (e.g. I'm not using it). I usually wonder if it is an
I/O error masquerading as something vague, but I have no corruption on the map
or screen just before the error occurs, and maps paint quickly, as always. All
maps are on a single logical and physical drive, but it is capable of speeds >
100MB/sec, so I'm a bit skeptical that's the sole issue, if it's the issue at
all.

Do you have suggestions? Can one completely deinstall the Visual C++ runtimes
and reinstall them successfully, and do you think that would have any effect?
If I deinstall and reinstall GMapCatcher, will the downloaded tiles be
preserved? I have only upgraded, recently. Thanks

Yes the map tiles can be preserved, the default directory is:
%userProfile%\.GMapCatcher\
suggestions: use a better OS, have you tried: http://www.ubuntu.com/

FYI this error does not occur when I remove the markers and waypoints files.
Mine are pretty large (>500 items each).
