Something is wrong with your environment. This is not an Armitage issue.

I am having this same problem. What should I look for to check that my
environment is set up correctly?

If you're using BackTrack and you update your environment, you may have updated
a library to something incompatible with the nmap that ships with Metasploit. I
can't help you troubleshoot this.
