Is this on kirk? Or on your laptop? What version of ds9 is it? ds9 shouldn't crash on these files...
DEIMOS has 8 CCDs, and all images are in one fits files. As you can see, "EXTEND = T", meaning the file has extensions. In this case, one for each CCD.
Try opening them by launching ds9 first, then go on "Open as" and on "Mosaic WCS", and select one of the images.
I should be more fluent with DEIMOS configuration as a whole. I did not realize this.
I'll give it a shot, and then go to kirk's ds9 when its up
no worries, it's not obvious initially
Just so you know what I'm struggling with;
The actually raw files corresponding to those on the log sheets instantly crash ds9. (with a buffer overflow message) This is the header to the first image on Oct. 30th observations (d1030_0001.fits): Its showing 0 data axes:
This is strange to me, it would make sense why all files represented on the logs all don't open. However, the fits files in the FCS subdirectories have no problem opening, and do all have 2 data axes; as expected.
I've been troubleshooting this all day, any advice? (Am i just making a silly fits viewing mistake?)
