I think I see what you're talking about. It looks like it's just because the color of the cursor is identical to the color of the white field at maximum dimness. I wouldn't call this a "bug" so much as the result of an unfortunate color scheme in this respect. You might try checking the "low contrast" box, which changes the shade enough to make the cursor visible again, or changing your text cursor to one with a different color.
