What is the expected output?
To split pages on a two column portrait document. For example, many journal
articles are in this format and use small fonts.

Hi, have you tried the zoom to column function?
You have to enable it by associate the action to a gesture in the "Configure
Taps" menu (personally, I select the whole screen and associate "Zoom to
Column" to a double tap). Then you just have to perform that gesture in a point
of the column of text you want to magnify and EBookDroid will zoom in to the
column's width. You can then move up and down the column using the usual page
turning commands, and revert back to full page by performing the same gesture
(in my case double tap) on the screen.

I have also some wild ideas on how to make this even more convenient, but I
have to find the time to streamline my thought to the developers. I'll come
back on this topic later this month.

Thanks for your helpful comment. This will definitely makes it easier to read
two-column documents. However, I still think that having the option of
splitting any documents (portrait or landscape) would make it much easier and
pleasant. Thanks to developers.
