The data used in this study are radial synoptic magnetograms that are constructed from full-disk magnetograms obtained by SOHO/MDI (Scherrer et al. 1995) and SDO/HMI (Scherrer et al. 2012).The sizes of the MDI and HMI synoptic magnetograms are both 1440 × 3600 pixels. Each pixel has a 0.1 Carrington longitude and about a 0.00139 sine-latitude. Its area is about 1.17 Mm 2 . The time range of the MDI and HMI magnetograms is CR 1909 (1996 May) to CR 2096 (2010 May) and CR 2097 (2010 June) to CR 2265 (2022 December), respectively, except for CRs 1938–1940, for which MDI maps are missing. Besides, data of MDI maps are partially missing in CRs 1909, 1910, 1937, 1941–1946, 1956, 1986, 2004, 2005, 2011, 2015, 2052, and 2086. All missing data mentioned above are due to the SOHO spacecraft malfunction. ARs in the maps with partially missing data are still detected but need to be used with care.

This comports with the data mentioned in the script. Though the script lacks the precision of omitting time ranges for missing CRs. Additionally, the script generation process would not know what time these CRs occurred. Adding this knowledge could be considered for a future update.
