Step by step:
Press X
Press Down 3 times
Press A
Press Right
Press several inputs of direction to hover equipment with cursor
Press A to select equipment
See no current party members can equip item so press B (press B twice if no other members available)
Press Left (if on second menu press Left twice)
Press down minimum 9 to maximum 10 times (menu limits disallow navigating up to reach the bottom)
Press Right
Press A to select equipment
Press Left
Press A to equip item to character
Press B twice to exit menus
Not a fun process
Also, I just personally find randomized equippable accessories to be unfun
