There is a setting to tweak the distance between the titles and the branches/repositories, but there doesn't appear to be a way to render the titles on the far ends of each branch/repository, instead of on the sides facing the center. I believe the ability to do so would improve clarity considerably.
When rendering multiple repositories, as described at https://github.com/acaudwell/Gource/wiki/Visualizing-Multiple-Repositories, the repository titles are always rendered towards the (already quite busy) center around which the repositories are revolving.
