After upgrading from Mint 20.3 to Mint 21 cwdaemon does not send code any more on ttyS0 or ttyS1. I have tried to recompile but no success. "ESC" a<0|1> works fine... it is PTT 73 Pino ZP4KFX

cwdaemon --version cwdaemon version 0.10.2

Compiled from source...as the previous was not sending any code.

Thanks! So far I managed to install Mint 20.3 and see that everything works correctly there. The one problem is that a ttySx port doesn't work on my current machine at all and I have to pass ttyUSB0 to cwdaemon to make it think that there is some serial device. I hope that it won't have impact on reproduction in Mint 21. I will try to test the problem on Mint 21 before Christmas.

acerion commented 1 year ago

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the problem on Mint 21 with cwdaemon 0.10.2 or 0.11.0 and ttyUSB, and it will take me some time to prepare a PC on which a ttyS0 may work correctly.

Can you please try reproducing the problem with cwdaemon 0.11.0?

Best regards, Kamil

I've found a PC with physical serial port.

I have installed Mint 20.3 and successfully tested cwdaemon 0.10.2 and 0.11.0. Then I did an upgrade to Mint 21 and successfully tested cwdaemon 0.10.2 and 0.11.0.

The tests consist of telling cwdaemon to manipulate pins of ttyS0 in usual fashion. At the same time another process is polling the pins and verifying their state. This test doesn't look at actual voltages on physical pins, but I think that it's good enough.

This means that there must be some condition on your side that we are not taking into account yet.

Q1. Can you re-test on cwdaemon 0.11.0? Q2. Can you show me the output of 'setserial -g /dev/ttyS0'. Q3. Please see if running "setserial /dev/ttyS0 -v autoconfig" improves situation. Q4. In the cwdaemon repo I have added a tools/serial.c file. Can you compile it (gcc serial.c), run it (./a.out ttyS0) and send me results? Q5. How do you observe the port pin that is sending the code, and the pin that is toggling PTT?

Best regards, Kamil
