Here, finally, is what I was working towards with the earlier patches: support for Terminator (http://www.tenshu.net/terminator/) on Linux. As Terninator has no IPC interface, the core uses the xdotool (http://www.semicomplete.com/blog/projects/xdotool/) utility to directly send keypresses to the Terminator window. The support is pretty rudimentary, but it seemed to work with Terminitor's own Termfile at least, and the (also pretty rudimentary, granted) tests are green on 1.8.7.
