This is just an idea!

I think it is a good idea to use a salable background grid in the design view
of UMLet.
I have attached an image as an example.
Thank you guys, keep up the good work

could you please explain what you mean with "design view"?

i meant the main aria of the design! instead of just white space you may
use a grid of adjustable lines (distance between them)

in the options you can already check "show grid" to see the grid in the
background.

The size of the grid is not adjustable because it corresponds with the
"staggering movement" of elements. (so at 100% zoom there is a line every 10px,
at 60% every 6px and so on)

Or are you talking about a grid for exported images?

at the moment we do not plan to implement the grid for the export because it's
mostly a help for the element placement during diagram creation (I use it all
the time ;) ) but doesn't help much in reading a finished diagram.

To avoid a very specific option like "grid on export" we've decided to use the
most common setting "grid during drawing, no grid on export"

Andreas

I hope the grid during diagram creation is sufficient for you :)
