YT direct Channel Problem #9

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
We have set up a YT direct lite upload widget with your iframe code:

<iframe height="400"
src="http://ytdirectlite.appspot.com/static-min/index.html#playlist=XXX"
width="618"></iframe>

And have several accounts for testing purposes. Everytime we try uploading the
video or entering the admin interface we get the message:

Your account cannot upload videos. Please visit
https://www.youtube.com/signin?next=/create_channel to add a YouTube channel to
your account, and try again.

But for all accounts we have create Channels and going to the above mentioned
url we get the message "This account has already a channel". This issue happens
at your testing pages, too.

Can you tell me which Google Accounts you've tested this with? Is your
luekelu...@gmail.com account one of them?

Right. Just like I asked with the OP, can you tell me which Google Accounts
you've tested this with?

Well, the account I am posting this with is attached to a Google account, as
well as my personal gmail account which was working as well prior to this
issue, is that sufficient enough?

videos we get the same message and no longer can see the videos that have been
uploaded. Thanks

We are experiencing the same problem also with our local deployment instance of
youtube-direct-lite. Any updates on this?

Javascript console says:

OPTIONS https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/default?alt=json 404 (Not
Found) require-jquery.js:30
XMLHttpRequest cannot load
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/default?alt=json. Origin
http://ytdirectlite.appspot.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

- this is for the reference instance, but the same issue occurs to the local
deployment instance, just Origin url is different.

The error message is: Your account cannot upload videos. Please visit
https://www.youtube.com/signin?next=/create_channel to add a YouTube channel to
your account, and try again.
- but this is not relevant error, because the account which we use to access,
has a youtube channel (is a proper youtube account, we used this functionality
before).

Thanks much for fixing this issue soon!

I've had some more time to look into this, and it appears to be due to a larger
outage with CORS support in the YouTube API
(http://apiblog.youtube.com/2012/05/unlocking-javascripts-potential-with.html).
YouTube Direct Lite depends heavily on CORS.

I'm following up internally about what might be causing that.

Hi,

The World Animal Awareness Society is experiencing the same problem that has
been outlined here:

Please let us know of the fix asap.

Unfortunately, it looks like this will not be fixed before the next YouTube API
server release, which is taken place on Tuesday, Dec. 4. There's nothing that
can be done in the client code to fix it in the meantime.

I'm very sorry to those who were counting on using YouTube Direct Lite in the
meantime, and I'll be following up internally to make sure that this sort of
thing doesn't happen in the future.

I've yet to be able to confirm that the fix was successfully deployed, and am
following up internally to make sure that it happens as scheduled. Apologies
again for this frustrating outage.

Sorry, folks. The initial fix hit a snag. I just tested the revised fix on a
development server and can confirm that it resolves the problem, and the
engineering team tells me that it will be deployed to all the production
servers on Thursday, Dec. 6.

And... it looks like we're back. Apologies again for the long delay in getting
this resolved; it unfortunately wasn't an issue with YouTube Direct Lite, but a
problem with the underlying YouTube API's support for CORS, and getting that
fully fixed was out of my hands.
