W89 does not appear on front page #450

There is one conference (NODALIA 1989) in W89.xml, but no workshop page is generated for 1989 on the front page of the antology. The individual pages are accessible though, see e.g., W89-0101.

It appears under 1990, and other workshops older than 1990 are also shifted by one year. That seems to be because the XML has <year>1990</year> for that event, for whatever reason. @mjpost?

The front matter states that the proceedings have been published in 1990 while conference was held in 1989.

Hi all,

(Cc: Nils Blomqvist original submitter of the earlier NODALIDA volumes. @Nils: no action needed from you unless followup is required from the current Anthology maintainers)

The reason is that the conference is historically aligned with a different year, although the proceedings date from the different year.

I’ve taken the liberty of excerpting the relevant mails from my archives. Hope that’s ok and provides sufficient context for the current management.

Hi Min,

See answers below.

For 1993:

  • I can't ingest this yet, because there's a conflict. In the BibTeX for these records it states 1994. Is it 1993 or 1994?

For 1991:

  • The same problem as 1993. It states in the BibTex that this was
    1. Can you clarify?

For 1989:

  • The same problem as 1993. It states in the BibTex that this was
    1. Can you clarify?

For 1987:

  • The same problem as 1993. It states in the BibTex that this was
    1. Can you clarify?

For 1985:

  • The same problem as 1993. It states in the BibTex that this was
    1. Can you clarify?

For 1983:

  • The same problem as 1993. It states in the BibTex that this was
    1. Can you clarify?

These proceedings were released the year after the conference took place. The name of the folders for each proceeding (1989, 1991, …) were named after the year of the conference, but the year in the bib files is the publication year.

To give an example, NODALIDA 1993 (which is also the name of the publication) took place in 1993, but the proceedings were produced and published in 1994, and therefore 1994 is the year specified in the bib files.

Each conference is known by the year when it was held, and people associate the articles with the conference. Most people don’t remember when the articles were published. Thus I wanted NODALIDA 1989 to be filed under 1989, and so no.

I apologize, I didn’t realize the bib year and the identifier were connected in this way. What would work best for the Anthology?

Best, Nils
