Yesterday I received a new offer from rebrandly, our link-shortening service of choice, to review the service and in return receive a free domain name. Last year, we chose http://acord.tech, which is used for all the short links we have made since April 2019.

At first, I thought that this was perfect - we can renew that domain from last year for free, rather than spending the $30 USD...but no.

Unfortunately not, the domain renewal fee is paid directly to the registry, so we have no input in that process. Our partnerships with certain registries only allow us to discount the domains for the first year of registration. - Beth from Rebrandly

What we will have to do is choose a new domain name - say http://acord.online (as an example, .com & .org are not available, neither are geographically-restricted extensions like .au or .eu) and then rebrand all the links in rebrandly using that new domain. We will need someone to go through our documentation on Github and change those links, or what we can do is sit tight and wait until we can get some money to register http://acord.tech again - most of those links (like the old portal) were unused by people except me. We could possibly make the rebrandly open-source....
