If you don't have the ability to set a value that works most of the time, maybe it would be worth it to try a somewhat sophisticated guess/check algorithm. Now that we record the start and end times, you could compare the time it took with the time it should have taken if motors and such were infinitely fast. Then just reiterate after all of your scans. Might be worth looking into.
