Any plans to re-bump to net 8?

Adding to @nealef 's comments, why was the sdk dropped back to dotnet-6? It wasn't immediately obvious at a glance.

Also interesting to know if is there a working branch which uses .Net8 if not master now? I have RISC-V enabling patch which can be proposed to upstream.
