I'd agree with this. At my workplace we run into issues with open source software that is licensed under GPL-3 (also the license that the open source version of R Studio is under). May be less of an issue since this is on CRAN but something to consider.
Somehow I didn't see any notifications for the issues people were raising.
R itself is GPL so this cannot be avoided.
Depending on the goals for this project I would encourage you to consider re-licensing this repo as something other than GPL. MIT/BSD/Apache are generally easier for projects that are intended to be used in corporate environments.
Ultimately your call! You may care about what the GPL provides. In any event, even without a change you should add a
LICENSE
file to this repo so it is very clear what the license is.
