Would it be possible to send the value of the pwm on a com port like this 
project:

An arduino mega have 14 pwm output, this would allow 4 different channels

It is possible to add 16 pwm, this would make 10 channels.

As the lightpack kit is currently unavailable I think this would be a good 
solution.
