DX Hooking causes lights to flash erratically when it detects movement. #25

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enable DX Hooking
2. Use either the mood lighting or Screen Grabbing mode.
3. Move a window around, or play a video, create movement.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The color is smooth and accurate

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Prismatik 5.9.6 on Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

Please provide any additional information below.
Doesnt happen all the time, and certainly doesnt happen when there is no
movement on the screen. The more movement, the more white flickering.

Side note: When using DX Hooking with Screen Grabbing, if no movement is
detected for 5 seconds the lights go off. DX Hooking is the only way I can get
fullscreen XBMC to work.

I would try this, Turn DX hooking back off, in XBMC turn on Fake fullscreen
(fullscreen in window)

That's how I do it and works.

My lights still shut off though like you mentioned..wondering if i turned DX
hooking on by mistake.

So turning DX hooking off and XBMC in Fullscreen Window does work, and that is
how I did it when I was using Adalights processing code. But that is not ideal
in my setup so that's why I switched to Prismatik.

Screensaver comes on over the top of XBMC and it makes Alt-Tab harder.

Maybe im picky, but I would like to help make DX hooking reliable for everyone.

Brett I agree, I don't likethe fullscreen window either..as you said alt
tabbing is funky. So I agree will be nice when all that works smooth. Will be
nice when Aero works smooth too.

And for me will be nice if my lights will stop shutting off randomly lol :)

Good luck hope they solve this issue!

For a little bit more clarification: the issue will generally occur if I have
had prismatik running for a long time or switch between modes a lot. Since my
machine runs 24/7 I can come back the next day, tell Prismatik to turn my
lights on with a hotkey and they will be flashing. The same has happened when
using a hotkey to switch between colour and screen grab or vice versa, but this
is less often, and may just be coincidental.

My workaround it to turn off DX hooking, close prismatik, open it again, and
reenable DX hooking.

Thanks for accepting the bug. :-)

I have DX hooking issues also. When in DX hooking mode if I sit still for
about 2 seconds with no screen changes..they all shut off to white...soon as I
move or change image they come back.

I can confirm the same thing (turning off after 2 seconds) happens in my setup,
I turned animation on in XBMC to prevent this happening which works.

I'm using Adalight FYI.

Yeah Im get the lights turning off if no motion in Xbmc, also whenever profile
changes or I start XBMC the lights are the right colour but they flicker
really fast. Alt+Tabbing in and out of the program solves the problem but
annoying to do all the time.

Good to see the bug has been Accepted :)

I am having the same prolem, flashing lights whenever i start and stop a video
in XBMC. DX hooking on, true fullscreen on, latest pismatik software. Fixed by
turning full screen to windowed then back again OR alt-tabbing (as said above)
