Led Strip(type: 5050 SMD LED) instead RF-W2SA50TS-A34 #45

I want to Use 5050 smd Led strip insted of RF-W2SA50TS-A34.

But I noticed that Led strip forward current is 150mA (and the RF-W2SA50TS-A34
is only 30 mA) - see attached datasheets.

I assume that Rext resistance of MBI5026 should be changed but:
1) At page 11 of MBI5026 datasheet Resistance of the resiistor, Rext in Ohms
shows that Iout = 90mA is the highest that I can obtain <-- Is that 90mA enough
to light 5050 smd led strip?
2)What Rext value should I use to safely supply the 5050 smd led strip (without
led strip or MBI5026 burn out possibility)?

I have connected Lightpack 6.0L with RGB Leds strip.
It works great. The only thing I have changed is Rext value to 375 ohm and
thanks to it Leds shine brighter but in final version I konsider to use
potentiometer with regulation possibility <375; 3900> ohmas.

Hi,

I'm also interested in using lightpack with led strips (3x 5050 smd / 10 cm)
375 ohm seems very low, is there any calculation to figure it out?

Which led strip do you have used?

just be sure drivers are not too hot

375ohm gives c.a 50 mA Ioutput per channel (according the charts it is c.a 50%
of max shown Iout and 83% of recommended max).

The Iout calculation is on the datasheet.

Today I'll check drivers operation temperature and give You a feedback.

I use simple 5050 RGB Ledstrip.

Ok I've didn't noticed that you didn't used the SITI DM631 Led driver.
They have different characteristics, but you help me great, I think I can deal
with it.
Thanks!

EDIT: In fact I hadn't find any DM631 or 633 in my country (France), but I find
this: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tlc5927.pdf

It seems to be pretty similar to MBI5026, what do you think?

The differences that I four are:
- output current (TLC5927 has higher)
- clock frequency TLC 30Mhz MBI 25MHz
- TLC have overtemperature protection

but in fact the replacement possibility should be confirmed by developers or in
real application.

In plans I have 2 lightpack to soldering. I have ordered samples so If I get it
I will test it and give feedback. :-)
