Prismatik crashes on Macbook Retina #84

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start Prismatik.
2.Click on the Top Menu bar Prismatik icon
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to see the Setup Wizard but the app crashes instantly. I did see the
wizard initially but can't see it any more.. even deleted the Prismatik folder
from home dir. Problem still persists

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Prismatik 5.10.5 on Maverick 10.9

Please provide any additional information below.
I have another additional monitor at work .. the wizard worked fine with a
virtual device on that monitor but when I tried the same on my Macbook it
crashed. I tried lowering the resolution on the Mac and it even worked for a
while but now even that doesn't work .

unfortunately i can't reproduce it because i do not have retina display, so i
need as much information as possible.

could you please increase verbosity:

to do this you may run Prismatik from command-line like this:
/Applications/Prismatik.app/<something like Contents/MacOS>/Prismatik
--debug-high

or modify settings at <home>/.Prismatik/main.conf, set "DebugLevel" to "3".

And add some system logs about the crash, it may help to get it:

hey guys .. waiting for help .. need to get this working .. as much as i was
excited to get the light pack i am disappointed that its not working at all . I
have not even been able to run it once like it should .. even more
disappointing is the response to these issues. I have submitted the crash
report like asked but no replies post that .. the light pack is right now just
stuck behind my television doing nothing .. it would be GREAT to get it going
.. appreciate any updates ..

cheers and thanks

Amit

i have the same problem, macbook pro with retina. prismatik crashes everytime i
click the icon in the menu bar. i also saw the initial instal wizard but have
not seen it since.. i have tried to delete the app and all its sub folders and
whatnot, i tried restarting and clearing certain logs. i have never seen that
initial wizard again nor has my lightpack ever worked. i really want a fix
otherwise i want a refund

Guys, please try this:
https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0ByyS4RhCQ3EHN2Zqei1STDFZZFU
Qt updated and it seems everything should be ok with this version, since some
related bugs were fixed there:
https://qt.gitorious.org/qt/qtbase/source/08cbbde61778276ccdda73d89fd64d02c62377
9f:dist/changes-5.2.1
Sorry for delay.

Hi Tim ,

Thanks for the update .. decent progress .. i was able to play the mood lamp
but the screen grabbing still doesn't work . shortly after the mood lamp when i
tried to change settings, the app crashed .. so back to square one.

its getting closer .. a little more bug fixing and i hope its going to work
fine ..

let me try and upload a video so you'll see it in action .. please keep me
updated on the issue if it gets resolved .. can't wait to run it with an actual
movie !!!

thanks

Amit

same here .. it has not worked even once .. this is unprofessional guys .. you
can't ignore such issues and not bother responding immediately .. if you
weren't sure of this device working on all platforms at least should have
notified your customers of possible issues.

and yes that link that you send doesn't work !!

If you wan't to get prismatik working while they are fixing it you can disable
the "retina" (hi dpi) by setting up a regular resolution with Retina Display
Manager for example.

For me it works up to 1280*800 (not hi dpi) but stop working after a while
(different issue I guess) at 1920*1080 (not cool for 1080p movies.......)

For everyone who experience crashes related to incorrect work of MacOSGrabber,
here is test version that should address this issue:
http://yadi.sk/d/iM7CH8xTSmtNT

I don't have Mac with retina right now, so I highly appreciate your feedback
whether it helps or not.
