3d Models licensing #17

Hi,

I'm currently creating a Feather Wing for the "Take Flight with Feather" contest. I'm using KiCad and most 3Dmodels are not provided. When I download 3D models from suppliers (like JST) they have nearly no licensing or provide them as "confidental".

How do you do 3D models then?

no licensing means (as fare as i know) normal copyright takes place - so it is not usable for sharing..

i just try to use the official kicad libraries - they have a license that is usable :-) and if i need a part that is missing (symbol / footprint or just 3d model) i take the time creating it and contributing it to the library. and if its something that can be script-generated (for example connectors) and i have some more time - i take a dive into the generators to create it this way...

this is a good entry point for the documentation about this: https://kicad-pcb.org/libraries/contribute/
