I have not yet used GitHub for a pull request and want to use this commit to try it out. Otherwise this commit makes no sense as a PR given that I am the only contributor currently.

I think once we've decided that the plug-in has reached a first releasable state, we should move to a PR only model, i.e. all changes to dev are via a PR and no self-merges.

I'm not crazy about the merge commit so I won't be unless I have to.
