I think the project is as dead as a rock...

Sadly, I agree. Development needs to be handed off to someone right quick. If
the
original devs don't have the time for it, there's no shame in passing the crown.

I'm interested.
How do you go about taking it over?

If you can, try to get a hold of the author, and maybe he'll give you access to
work
on this google code project. But, we've been having trouble getting a
response...
Luckily, all the source is there. Download the source out of SVN, start a new
project that you have full admin access to.

I was thinking the same thing pforhan
I have gotten a response from the project owner and he was accommodating for
patches
when he has time to apply them but doesn't want any members due to quality
control
issues as he won't have the time day to day to review submits Which is fair
enough.
I've had my fair share of disagreements over that kind of stuff as well.
I have suggested I will branch it into a new project, Which i will start doing
now.

Done, New project is called Warpback. I also considered Driveback since the
backing
up over ssh feature i want to finish will be much slower than backing up to
local disk.

yes, i'm still alive, and i do intend to keep flyback developed. but prob.
mostly
between semesters, as i'm also working on my dissertation. just for the record
i
have no objections to warpback. i imagine we'll trade code quite a bit. :)
