How do I find Help for AdaptIt?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I don't understand how to do something, so I open the Help menu.
2. A pop-up dialog asks me if I want to look for English_AdaptItU.HLP
3. I have heard that there are documentation files somewhere -- can someone
point me to them?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would like to see a HELP file, or better still a Word document or PDF
that I could search, because help files usually only let the user search
for things the developer thought of, whereas a PDF would allow me to search
 the whole text for whatever my problem is.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Adapt It Unicode 3.6.1 on Windows XP SP 2

This is a known problem and we are in the process of finalizing help files for 
Adapt
It. In the mean time we will be placing a link in the program that will point 
you to
this location. 
Adapt It does contain several documents that can be of help in using Adapt It. 
These
files are included in the Adapt It or Adapt It sub-folders of Program files. 
These
include:

o Adapt It Basics
o Adapt It Quick Start
o Adapt It Tutorial
o Version 3 of Adapt It

Links to all the help files and documents are available on the Start Menu.
Go to Start-->All Programs-->Adapt It or Adapt It Unicode. You will see the 
above
items in the list. Note that Adapt It Basics is called Adapt It Basic Reference 
if
are opening Adapt It. If you are using Adapt It Unicode, the same file is called
Adapt It Reference.

Adapt It Basics is the most extensive document and we made it available for 
download
if you prefer to get it this way. You should note that this file is based on the
earlier version of Adapt It. Look at Start-->All Programs-->Adapt It-->Version 
3 of
Adapt It for the new features.

As an interim action, I have placed an HTML version of the help files in the 
Download Section. This is a draft version and is not complete. 

Procedure:
1. Download the Zip file
2. Expand the files into a dedicated Help File folder.
3. Download any Update files and expand them into the Help File folder.
4. Start the process by opening the Using_Adapt_It file.

Some Caveats:
1. There is no topic index at this stage. You can use the Windows Search 
function to 
find specific documents.
2. There are some errors in the documentation. As we find them and make the 
corrections we will post additional updates.
3. You may want to create the Help File folder in the Root Directory (C:\) if 
you 
have trouble with the links.

If you find errors in the documentation, please post a comment here so it can 
be 
fixed.

The new widget version of Adapt It contains help files. We are continuing to 
improve 
those files and appreciate information about broken links or problems in the 
files.
Please include the page name where any problems reside.

The New HTML Help system was activated in version 4.0.4.
