context dependent <no adaption> #29

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. In Help/mode_Bar/No-Adaption_Command/the <no adaption> button.
is is mentioned:
'Some words may or may not require a translation based on the context. In
these circumstances, <no adaptation> can be stored in the knowledge base as
one of the valid adaptations. So when Adapt It displays Choose Translation
dialog, you can select <no adaptation> along with any of the alternate
meanings.'

Trying this out to do in the Choose Translation dialog does not work in AI
4.1.1.

2. In order to do context dependent <no adaption> the following works:

- Open the KB (Ctrl+K),
- Click Add <no adaptation>
- OK
- Open the Choose Translation dialog (F8)
- Choose: >no adaptation>

3. To remove context dependent <no adaption>:
- Open the KB (Ctrl+K),
- Choose from the existing translations: <no adaption>
- Click Remove
- yes
- Open the Choose Translation dialog (F8)
- <no adaptation> is not available any more

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
AI 4.1.1/Linux

Please provide any additional information below.

The simplest solution is to place the Phrase box below the word to be adapted
and
click the <no adaptation> button. Adapt It will then enter <no adaptation> as
one of
the potential options. If you desire to remove <no adaptation> from the
Knowledge
Base you can delete it the Choose Translation dialog.

There should be no real need to do the work by editing the Knowledge Base.

There is a caveat if you remove the <no adaptation> option from the KB, Adapt
It will
NOT change any the words that have already adapted. That is, any words that have
already been marked with <no adaptation> continue to have that marking. The
change in
the KB will only apply to any future occurrences of the word.

Great. As you wrote:
' The simplest solution is to place the Phrase box below the word to be adapted

one of
the potential options. If you desire to remove <no adaptation> from the

-> Would you please put it into the help file?

what I did was
- opened the Choose Translation dialog
- clicked <no adaptation>
and this did not work.
