title. it's 2022, I think it's nice to respect XDG_CONFIG_HOME, so I added the feature.
works on me, so I think this is good to go..? if it does not please do scold me haha

I added support for this in 35e522f while making it portable and keeping backwards compatibility, thanks a lot @formula-spectre and @dotlambda for the help!
