VRT MAX add-on cannot display geo blocked content #1185

Describe the bug

<!Geo blocked content does not play. VRT Profile is OK. I can play the geo blocked content on my (Windows) PC and on my (Android) smart phone. According to VRT, the app needs Android 8. My Fantec mediaplayer 4KS6000 is still on Android 7. (Kodi 21.1) --- Add a clear and concise description of what the bug is -->

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to add-on VRT MAX
  2. Click on .any geo blocked content (e.g. Suspect)...
  3. Scroll down to .play...
  4. See error

Expected behavior

I want to see the geo blocked content. Other content plays fine.

I can't reproduce this on Kodi 21.1 on Android 13. Suspect is playing fine.

What error message do you get?

No error message. Geoblocked content is certainly encrypted with Widevine DRM. You need an Android device that supports Widevine DRM to play this content.

You can check if the Widevine CDM is available on your device with the Android DRM Info app.

This is not a VRT MAX add-on problem as you confirmed it plays fine on your Android 12 smartphone.

Widevine is found on my mediaplayer. Version 1.0Security level L1On my smartphone I found Version 16.1.0.Security Level L1.I cheched with Fantec (mediaplayer manufacturer). My equipment is no longer supported. I did a test on an Android 7 device with Widevine 1.0 Level 3 (OEM Crypto API Version 11) and Suspect is playing fine.

I guess there is something wrong with your Android 7 device. If you can provide a Kodi log file, I can investigate why it is not playing. (In VRT MAX Add-on Expert settings you can easily upload a log file using Kodi Logfile uploader add-on)

Completely removing Kodi with all settings removed and reinstalling Kodi and VRT MAX Add-on may also help.

Uninstalling de VRT MAX add-on and re-installing it, did not solve the issue.

I installed the Logfile uploader add-on. I can view the logfile and received a url https://paste.kodi.tv/pluguhedacu. But I don’t know how to visualize the file in my browser. Maybe the url is enough for you.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Kodi (and  VRT MAX add-on).Geo blocked content still does not play.I can see loading till 100 percent. Screen remains black. The log shows an error: inputstream.adaptive: SendSessionMessage: provideKeyResponse has raised an exception

You don't get the decryption key to decode the video, so the stream doesn't play.

There is something wrong with the Widevine CDM on your device. This is not a VRT MAX Add-on problem, but a problem with your device.
