Air Tanks in EVA Belts #9

Closed addictgamer closed 11 years ago

addictgamer commented 11 years ago

Make air tanks fit in EVA suit belt storage slots.

taukausanake commented 11 years ago

I think there's a reason a tank the size of your torso doesn't attach to your belt. However I do remember hearing something about the orange safety vest that DragonToast always wears could do something like that. Never saw it in the code though

addictgamer commented 11 years ago

In the case of EVA, it'd be more of a compartment.

Emergency O2 tanks will fit there already. They also fit into RIG suit slots and (as alluded by Tauka) hazard vests. The big ones that you get from tank dispensers only fit on your back. Keep in mind that the only difference between emergency and full-size tanks is where they will equip to and how much air they start out with; Full-size ones BEGIN with double the amount that the emergency ones do. BOTH tanks will FILL to a max capacity of 1013.0 (correct figure?) KPa when refilled in an O2 canister. Making the big tanks fit in the suit storage slot on EVA suits is unnecessary, but if you really want that feature, it could be done.

addictgamer commented 11 years ago

A) I did not know they both had the same capacity. B) A changes thing. It's now a low priority feature.

taukausanake commented 11 years ago

I did not know they were the same either. Good to know

taukausanake commented 11 years ago

So a change of subject in this. First off, I don't know what the KPa means completely (I know it has something to do with pressure and maybe volume to an extent). I would think that a smaller, "emergency" tank would have less air than a full size tank. I don't know how to go about this but I would say either an increase in the large tank volume or a decrease in the maximum size for the emergency tank. Sure the emergency starts off with less air but once filled to full it's just a more compact large tank. Kind of removes the purpose for the other tanks (unless you're in Toxins or lazy in some way).

"Sure the emergency starts off with less air but once filled to full it's just a more compact large tank."

That's basically how it is with all things related to gasses.

I think this issue is done more or less now. Rig suits can carry air tanks in suit compartment, EVA really shouldn't have that benefit because they are TECHNICALLY easier to get that rig suits by non-engineers/security. I say this issue is pretty much closed now.
