Awesome setup! Which parts are responsible for being able to open windows with the mouse by clicking on background? Many thanks in advance!

Do you mean drawing terminal? It's slop to record the rectangle, then urxvt launched with the recorded dimension from slop. Please check the urdraw script in this dotfiles.
