ASF/ASC regimes and seasonality

To do:

• Calculate ASC regimes for each run and compare spatial distribution.
• Compare seasonality of along-slope velocity for each regime for each run.

Below figure shows the spatial distribution of different ASC regimes. Regimes are defined using along-slope velocity data along the 1000 m isobath.

• Overall little change between the control run and the easterly perturbations
• UP case: bottom-intensified ASC extended (mostly upstream end)
• DOWN case: bottom-intensified ASC slightly reduced, replaced by surface-intensified ASC

Adding the seasonality averaged over each ASC regime for the barotropic along-slope velocity along the 1000-m isobath. The control case is shown in the solid line, UP in dashed and DOWN in dotted.

• Reversed ASC (purple): no change in seasonality (difference is an offset in overall velocity).
• Surface-intensified ASC (green): seasonal signal increases for UP and decreases for DOWN.
• Bottom-intensified ASC (purple): seasonal signal increases for UP, no change in seasonality for DOWN (offset change as for reversed ASC).
