Using a source volume and receiver volume. #104

What's the best way to be able to use the receiver volume for most all sources and "Sonos" volume when sonos is selected. The receiver still needs to be turned on. Client really wants to be able to use the sonos app to with volume for sonos. Turning on the receiver is the easy thing. I know the source module has a volume select. Would you add the sonos to the "Audio Switcher" on the room module? Which determines the audio path?

Assuming you are using the Crestron official Sonos Device module to control the variable volume level of a Port or Connect unit:

One simple solution is to connect the receiver's volume up/down/mute and level feedback to your TV's switcher \x71. Assign volume relative on this module.

Attach the Sonos volume up/down/mute and level feedback signals to your receiver's switcher module \x61. Assign volume relative on this module.

With this configuration the volume controls will be automatically mapped to the video switcher when a video source is in use. When an audio only source is in use the volume controls will map from the audio switcher. If Sonos is your only audio source, this solution is simple and should work well without requiring additional switchers for the room.

Another method is to use the room's Source_Is feedback with the analog_equate symbol to enable buffers for the volume controls. See image attached sonos_vol .
