Are there any reproduction steps? Did you just try to log in?

Installed the extension via Chrome store, selected the app icon in Chrome, which presents the "GroupMe Extension pop-up" screenshot. Selecting "Click here to log in" briefly opens a new tab then immediately closes the new tab. When I separately login directly via the GroupMe website, I can see the first screenshot in my account under "Token Management"

Not sure what changed, but this issue isn't happening anymore - tested with Chrome on Windows 7 and OS X.
