hi,I have this exact problem just brought my first kit. Before i go any further
i am running windows 7 on a quadcore pc with either 8 gig of ram.The first time
i installed the latest version of the Arduino software everything cranked up,
connected the uno tried the first "blink test" everything seemed to go ok [not
sure that worked properly as the led was always blinking and always has
blinked].Anyhoo ever since then the software just doesn't want to work.I have
tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail doh!If anyone can help that
would be awesome otherwise it'll become a £55 dust collection zone.I can be
contacted via this email address w1gsta73@googlemail.com
