Improve Your Code Literacy [and mine!] #13

Open adlai opened 4 years ago

adlai commented 4 years ago

One fifth of a bitcoin, in exchange for a series of commits that add a comment block before each toplevel form, explaining why each is, as it is; half of the remaining four, at hundredth resolution, as bonus for quality of improvements suggested by the text; the remaining two fifths are allocated for a bonus incentivising concision of writing, and will be automatically retained should the number of bytes added to the repository be larger than its current size.

For an example of a commit that could, quite plausibly, be part of such a series, see 10d7e111fdff1907ff5ee36ec32ac52986df60e3

Meanwhile, I intend to continue:

  1. Increasing the number of toplevel forms, when sanity demands;
  2. Adding such commits, myself, when sanity suggests;
  3. Reducing the byte count of the repository, to make the second bonus more difficult to claim.

Although I understand a few languages that require characters other than those designated as Standard Characters by the ANSI Common Lisp specification, it is strongly discouraged to stray outside that set, both for reasons of byte count, and to increase the chance that I consider your comments as improving readability of the repository.

The offer is cancelled, pending restructuring of the payment due to an implied request for exclusivity:

anyone: My primary concern was avoiding finishing some of the work, only to be beaten by another, but I now see this is more of a ``free for all'' than first anticipated.

Bounty allocation subject to request for payment recalculation; Bitcoin has moved a little in five years.
