Build and Run buttons missing in AD Studio #214

Closed ammodytes2000 closed 2 years ago

When I double-click the AD Studio shortcut, the emacs program opens but I don't see the build and run buttons. I opened a .tpl, thinking maybe it required, but still nothing. Has anyone run into this problem?

Have you found a solution?

Hi, if you open an issue on https://github.com/admb-project/adstudio I'm sure we can identify and fix the problem.

Sorry for the late response; I was away for a couple of weeks. No, I haven't found a solution. I re-installed the AD studio but the same result happened. I'll try other things this week.

That's interesting. To understand this better, we can start with:

  1. Are you using the EXE installer (adstudio-10.exe)?
  2. Do you know if you're on a computer where you have full admin privileges, or is it a user account with limited privileges?

I had the same issue as @ammodytes2000 - the Build and Run buttons not showing up because ADMB mode was not being recognized after install. Persisted even after going through the manual and following the links to the install, my .emacs file seemed to have what was needed.

My solution was to work with my IT support: they granted me temporary admin rights, uninstalled and then reinstalled ADstudio using the .exe, and that did the trick. Before landing on this solution, we had tried adding a number of the path variables suggested in various discussions and couldn't find the magical combination.
