iOS 15 Health Integration #43

Open n0rdlicht opened 3 years ago

Will the app support the upcoming iOS 15 feature to store immunizations and test results with the health app?

It's highly unlikely that this support is coming anytime soon, as this iOS 15 feature is based on the FHIR standard and so-called SMART health cards (these are US standards, see this WWDC21 developer session for more info). The standard here is the EU's own Electronic Health Certificate (HCERT) format and different encoding. So either the EU would change their own standard (won't happen), or Apple adds support for it in a future update.

Would not be surprised if the latter happens (maybe by filing some radars now?) - see Apple Pay adding support for country specific payment systems.

Verifiable health records

iOS 15.4 beta has made the Health app compatible with EU Covid Certificates. I was able to add my Swiss Covid Certificate to the Health app by scanning it with the Camera app. However (I assume this will change when 15.4 drops to the public) it shows as digitally signed by BAG but not "verified" by Apple.

In my case, I deleted and re-added my certificates after beta 2 came out and they have since then shown as Verified and Signed. I'm therefore also able to add them to Wallet.
