The examples above focus particularly on the "л" glyph, but I think that due to the fact that many of the Bulgarian letter forms have one or several serifs less (и, н, ш, щ for example), it looks like they now have more space around them when paired with a glyph that has a serif opposite of the one that the Bulgarian glyph doesn't feature. Here are some examples from the PDF produced with MS Word (click to zoom it to its original size):
Thank you for this material! After double-checking in InDesign, I am relieved to say it’s not as bad as I feared. One thing I did not remember last night: MS Word has kerning disabled by default. Please make sure you turn it on.
Find attached a PDF exported from InDesign and a screen shot, which show the actual kerning situation:
I’m inclined to close this, if you feel like there still is something completely off, please feel free to reopen this issue.
Hello,
As I mentioned in our discussion with @frankrolf beforehand, I am very happy and thankful for the great additions in the 3.0 release. However, when testing the font, I noticed that the kerning of the brand new Bulgarian Cyrilic glyphs might need some tweaks. Could you please confirm or dispel this? I am no authority on typography and would like to leave the judgement on this to more qualified people.
I am attaching a word list[1] and rendering examples of it produced with LibreOffice on Linux[2], MS Word[3], and Firefox on Linux[4] and Windows[5] for comparison.
