So far, this can be reproduced with Surface Pro 3 only. Very first attempt of entering the vector mask mode after Vermilion doc was opened does not show HUD.
Steps:
With Surface Pro 3,
Open Vermilion doc, and wait till the doc is completely loaded.
Select one of the artboards
With superselect tool selected, hit M.
RESULT: HUD does not appear.
Hit M again and exit the mode, and hit M again to enter the mode. This time, it will display the HUD. Note that it took nearly 1.5 sec for tools.changeVectorMaskMode for the first attempt.
