Documentation request: Difference between aem-cif-project-archetype and aem-project-archetype #121

Open dhardtke opened 4 years ago

dhardtke commented 4 years ago

After reading a bit through issues and the READMEs of both projects it is still unclear to me what the difference between the two archetypes is.

The aem-project-archetype supports CIF since May 28th PR and includes newer versions of the CIF Core Components, etc.

Why does it need the aem-cif-project-archetype? Is it only for people who don't need the whole library of WCM core components?

Thanks.

@dhardtke the roadmap is to unify the AEM related archetypes and move to https://github.com/adobe/aem-project-archetype . A release for https://github.com/adobe/aem-project-archetype is planned soon and this will become the new official CIF archetype to be used for CIF projects as well.

We will keep this archetype project for archive and for projects which use older versions of AEM and/or Magento for a will. Once https://github.com/adobe/aem-project-archetype is released we will update the readme here to clearly indicate which archetype should be used.
