User Interface effects are not properly working in new GUI #80

Switching from using the terminal to a GUI interface has broken some of the interface effects that were in place prior to the change. These effects need to be rewritten to be compatible with the currently used version of tkinter.

Due to the low priority of this bug, this fix has been pushed to the next major release instead of the playable demo release.
