can't scan/skip within playback #91

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start playback of a motion picture.
2. try to skip to a certain point within the motion picture.
3. observe as the bar skips to that point and then moves back to the
original point - without disrupting playback

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
actually skipping to the point I want to skip to. no skipping to the point
I want to skip to.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.9.9. Gentoo, using 2.6.30-gentoo-r5 Linux kernel.

Please provide any additional information below.

The ability to skip in the media depends on markers in the media. Also, you may
be
trying to skip to a point in the file that is not downloaded yet.

I'm trying a random video on a website (tv channel).
http://www.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/616314/

I can't skip backwards on what's already been loaded, nor forward.

Most likely an mplayer limitation based on the markers in that media.

I tried running the stream directly with mplayer, like I usually would (just
recently
got the gecko-mediaplayer), and it says: Cannot seek in this file..011 ct:
-0.033
19/ 19 8% 1% 0.2% 0 0 12%

vlc plays it fine though.

Sounds like an mplayer bug, so you will need to open the issue with them.
