Can you attach the Installer log file? That will give more detail about the
failure.

Thanks for the log. I see where it failed, but I'm not sure of the root cause
yet.
I'll need to upgrade to 10.6.7 to try to reproduce the failure.

I am having a similar situation with Simbl on Mac OS X 10.6.7 Desktop. Simbl
will download and installation will say it has completed successfully, but the
only thing that is found on my Mac is Simbl file folder (with nothing inside,
or inaccessible) and Simbl uninstaller.
Have uninstalled and re-installed a few times just to be on the safe side, to
no avail.
Will keep an eye on this discussion and hope this is resolved.
Thanks!

I think I'm having the same problem as @flutterdegen where nothing seems to
happen after I install. I've attached my install log if it could be of any
help. I'm running 10.6.7 btw.

These are not the same issue. The original problem is clearly a failure of the
Installer and it clearly sends a failure message to the user via a dialog box.
The second attached log appears to be a successful installation - nothing
failed. I'm not sure what you are expecting to happen after installation?

I think I'm having the same problem as Flutterdegen...
I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.7 on my MacBook Pro 2011. The installer says that
everything was fine, but nothing seems to have changed afterward.
I don't know about anyone else, but I was expecting to find a SIMBL folder in
~/Library/Application Support, but it isn't there.

Please read the FAQ. These comments are all unrelated to the original issue.

I had the same issue on my work MBP running 10.6.7, but not on my private MBP
running the same OS. I think the issue is related to special characters or
spaces in your home directory/shortname. My home directory is "/Users/mads
mobaek" (note the space). I managed to install SIMBL by:
1. creating a new user account without spaces
2. logging in to this account, and installed SIMBL successfully :)
3. logging out and deleting the new user account
4. logging in and out on my old user account

i'm also having issues with SIMBL 0.9.9, which actually seem related to the
original issue.
on my machine, simbl was already installed, probably ever since leopard,
upgrading along the way i guess.. but recently (6-8 weeks?) i noted the agent
wasn't running, because no plugins were loaded.
my attempts manually load it again with the launchctl front-end of launchd
failed somehow (eventually found i didn't put the '-S Aqua' option), so i tried
running the installer. this works fine, but the agent will always at one point
dissappear again. usually after several hours (i think) but i haven't witnessed
it, and i can't find anything relevant in the logs, so i can't really tell.
if this helps i'd be happy to provide any logfiles or other additional info.

This doesn't sound immediately related. Can you file a new bug an attach any
logs that mention SIMBL?

For anyone else having the problem originally posted by flutterdegen (i.e., you
can't find the SIMBL folder in the Application Support folder), here's the
solution spelled out: you are probably looking in the wrong Library folder. The
Library folder you want is the system Library (i.e., click on your Hard Drive
icon, then on the Library folder, etc...). If you try looking in the Library
folder for your user, you won't find anything there.
